To meet the standards of flatness specified by the client and to meet programme constraints, a laser screeded floor was chosen utilising steel fibre reinforcement. Over 1,000 piles were installed to support the superstructure and ground floor. Helical displacement piles were chosen as they give the speed of construction obtained by CFA piles without the associated arisings - an important factor particularly when constructing in contaminated ground.
The steel superstructure consists of a triple span portal with two spans of approximately 36m with an eaves height of 6.5m and a propped span of 50m with an eaves height of 13m. The elevations are of conventional insulated metal cladding with extensive curtain walling to the full height office entrance and reception area.
